What is wrong with this Picture

There are few things that remain the same over long periods of time. Along Oceanside's beaches you can depend upon the Pier, the Bandshell, The Strand and Robert's Cottages. Roberts was built in the 1920's as an Auto Court and provide beachfront housing albeit about 200 square feet since then. In the 1950's the cottages became one of California's first condominiums. Exactly the date and when they decided upon the salmon(pink) color and roof material is unknown, but for my lifetime you could depend upon it. Checkout the video view then look at the colors on three units. One can only assume that the homeowners have decided upon a change. I am not sure what to say?

As far as I know, all things do change, including the pier and Roberts Cottage colors. This is the third pier, as far as I know, and it looks nothing like the photos I have seen of the earliest one. Moreover, the original color of the cottages were white, not pink. Change is ok, in fact, like the pier, in time, people will forget about the difference.

Thank you for the comment. I am a local historian that knows well that the history marks change and I embrace it even when an Icon changes it color.
The pier we have now is our six pier, the third built on the existing concrete approach. The Oceanside Histoical Society's website: http://tinyurl.com/qv6uym

It's nice to read that you embrace changes Mr. 101. Change is the only thing constant. I can see what a shock it is to see 3 little cottages change colors while the others remain the same salmon color "that looks wrong"! When more cottages change there color you'll see the cottages the same way as you did years ago because then the cottages would have there indivisual styles and you can even name them. We consider ours the tropical teaky cottage. At Roberts Cottages we care and are very sensitive to others around us. We would love to celebrate the history of Roberts Cottages while keeping the integrity and adding a little facelift to keep it from looking run down. The HOA as a whole are environmentally conscious, we're finding ways to conserve electricity and water. We are all about improving not disturbing anyones view.
